Esther Piervil: UF Health Shands Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

BSCH doctoral candidate Esther Piervil, was awarded the UF Health Shands Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship for 2016-2017 in recognition of her strong commitment to the ideals and endeavors of the health professions.Her research interests focus on improving health outcomes related to chronic disease in under-served and under-represented minority populations.

The Shands Hospital Auxiliary award is given annually to students within the University of Florida, College of Public Health and Health Professions. The criteria include above average grades, strong faculty endorsement, and a strong commitment to the ideals and endeavors of the profession. Piervil is currently completing her third year as a doctoral candidate in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Program.  Specifically, Esther is interested in identifying and addressing the factors that influence health decisions and disease management among under-served racial and ethnic minorities.
